Shell Chemical was responsible for the death of my father... and the poisoning
of my entire family with the toxic effects caused by Benzene exposure.
My father died at the OLD age of 47...
of liver cancer.
In the 1970's he worked for Shell Chemical where he was provided vats of Benzene to wash the
grease off his tools each day after work.
He came home with it all over his overalls every day... his very breath
reeked of the smell... it permeated his entire body.
He exposed me... to it... and my mother even more so, and
my younger sister and brother to a lesser extent.
All of us are sick... with a myriad of aliments , but especially
my mother.
My mother up until last year was an incredibly beautiful and positive person.
Over the
last year she has grown weak, despondent and depressed because she thinks her government feels she is not worth saving. She
makes too much money to qualify for medicaid... she works from home transcribing court records and makes about $15, 000-$20,
000 a year.
She can no longer hold a regular job and she was just denied disability.
Lupus is killing
her because she can not afford the twice a year $20, 000 infusions.
she requires to keep her disease from ravaging
her body so.
Most days she can hardly walk and some days she can not even get out of bed.
It angers
me to no end to think that there are other people out there like her that are not receiving the medical attention they NEED
to live... solely because they can not afford it.
I am very disappointed that our elected officials can’t
pull themselves together and off the teats of the lobbyists they have sold out to and pass adequate legislation to cover the
people who have fallen through the cracks.
Nothing will change until the money is taken out of politics.
A person should run for office for love of their country... motivation by anything else... is simply treason.
No human being should be denied the medical care to keep them alive... regardless of their ability to pay!
I believe Shell Chemical at least owes our family health care for our mother.
